We are excited to announce that Fall 2020 athletics will continue as planned for Columbia County middle schools!  All students, regardless of schedule, must provide transportation and be present to tryout/participate (this includes LFH and days students are home due to A/B scheduling).  We will be adhering to strict COVID guidelines laid out by our district.  All paperwork MUST be turned in prior to participation.  Athletic packets/forms can be found on our website under athletics.

Please see the following for further information on fall sports.

FOOTBALL:

Football conditioning will begin on August 12th for any 7th or 8th grade student wanting to tryout.  This is a required acclimation/conditioning period.  Anyone wishing to tryout for football must participate in these sessions before tryouts begin August 17th.  Athletic Packets must be submitted to the GMS front office (Tonya Roebuck) before being allowed to participate.

SOFTBALL:

Softball tryouts will begin August 17th at 3:00pm.  All students are eligible to tryout (6-8).  Participants must have ALL paperwork completed before being allowed to take part in tryouts.

Greenbrier Middle School Athletic Department Mission Statement:

Athletic participation helps our student-athletes grow, learn, and enjoy themselves while they use and develop their personal, physical, and intellectual skills. Greenbrier Middle School values the lessons that have long been taught by athletic participation: the pursuit of excellence through personal development and teamwork, ethical and responsible behavior on the field and off, adherence to the spirit of rules as well as to their letter, leadership and strength of character, and sportsmanship – respect for one’s opponents, acceptance of victory with humility, and acknowledgement of defeat with grace.  In teaching these lessons to its students, Greenbrier Middle School instills habits which will lead students to better and healthier lives.  While winning is not an end in itself, we believe that the efforts by our athletes to be their best will lead them to succeed throughout their lives.
