Welcome to Computer Science!

We are very excited to offer two Computer Science courses this year, Foundations of Secure Information Systems (FSIS) and Foundations of Interactive Design (FID).

In FSIS, students will learn the foundation of computer basics, cybersecurity topics, digital citizenship, and cyber hygiene mostly through the Code.org web-based platform. Students will complete a culminating extension project where they will create a digital presentation of their choice. This is not a coding intensive course.  Rather, students will learn the basics of protecting their own data and become aware of how cybersecurity is important for the information age in which we live. Students will also utilize Google Classroom to meet additional participation and employability standards throughout the nine weeks. This course will be available to 6th grade computer science students.

In FID, students will learn web and digital design, web development, and game design mostly through the Code.org web-based platform. Students will complete a culminating extension project where they will create a website and game of their choice. This is not a coding intensive course.  Rather, students will learn the basics of the design process and design elements that will help to create effective digital design products for the information age in which we live. Students will also utilize Google Classroom to meet additional participation and employability standards throughout the nine weeks. This course will be available to 7th and 8th grade computer science students.
